All in all, most courts will reduce the fine if you go to court and explain your case. But that still doesn't dismiss the ticket. In his case, if he pleads the case and the court decided to "lower the violation", they would lower it to what? A speeding ticket? He couldn't stop because he was speeding. Period. The fact of the matter is, when the cop looked, he saw a car drive through an intersection when the light was red. He saw a violation happen, and he ticketed the person he saw do it. What argument could he possibly make? Trying to put the blame on the driver of the truck is like saying, "well, everyone else was driving over the speed limit too, but the cop decided to pull me over."
